FAQ: Grio's Guide to the Wildlands (D&D 5e)

What are the Hardcover Dimensions and Page Count?

The hardcover books will be printed in much the same format as you might expect from any TTRPG sourcebook on the shelves of your Friendly Local Game Store.

Trim Size - U.S. Letter 8.5” x 11” Gloss Cover Finish Heavy-weight glossy stock Full color interior printing

Our current estimate for the 9 major biomes that will be covered once we surpass the $45K tier (a virtual certainty at this point) is approximately 140 pages.

Each additional stretch goal that is achieved thereafter has the potential to add 20-30 pages of specialized content, placing the total page count right around 300 if we were to hit all stretch goals.

We are committed to keeping the book under 300 pages for ease of use and to keep shipping costs at reasonable levels.

How much will shipping cost?

We have received a number of questions about shipping within the U.S. and to other countries around the world, and we want to address these questions in the most reliable way that we can. We are still actively searching for better deals and potential methods to decrease the cost of getting the hardcover book out to all of you, but here are the current estimates:

Continental U.S. - $15.00 Alaska and Hawaii - $18.00 Canada - $23.00 Mexico - $32.00 U.K. - $23.00 E.U. - $23.00 Australia and New Zealand -$35.00

Shipping charges will be collected as close as possible to the actual shipping date of the hardcover books. Each backer will be contacted by email shortly after the funding window has closed to complete the pledge manager survey, but we plan to hold off on shipping charges until closer to the final fulfillment date.

How will playtesting work?

Our backers who have pledged at tiers that include playtesting will be able to experience a 5th Edition wildlands adventure run by one of our professional DMs! These sessions will be offered online through Virtual Tabletops like Roll20 and Foundry. We will also utilize Shared Content through DnDBeyond in order to test some of the unique character options that will be a part of Grio’s Guide.

Each playtesting session will be run as a self-contained adventure that is designed to last between 3 and 4 hours. Group sizes and character levels will be predetermined based on the material that needs to be tested, and each session will include a minimum of three environmental encounters from the book.

We’ll be using the Next-Level Gaming Discord server to organize participation for our playtesting backers, and these sessions will begin in early July. Remember that the Playtesting backers will receive a special acknowledgement in the printed book as well.

What's up with these Social Achievements?

We want to provide more perks for our wonderful community of backers, so we’ve launched Social Achievements (near the bottom of the Story Page and in Update #5) as a way to let all of you contribute mightily to making Grio’s Guide the best that it can be.

Every time the community surpasses 5 of the Achievement milestones, a new perk will be unlocked for ALL BACKERS! Our first perk is upgrading the PDF to a fully hyperlinked and indexed file, which will make navigating the document quick and easy for a DM who is searching up encounters on the fly.

Stay tuned for additional perks every time our community posts a 5th achievement!

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
